So, today was my first pace run on my Hald Higdon Half Marathon Training plan and this is what I looked like afterwards... a hot mess.

I went way too fast, and 2 days later (when I'm actually writing this post) my left ankle actually feels a little sore from my ankle sprain in August. First time I've felt it in a long time
So, I had a 3 mile pace run. I want to run an 8:50 pace for the half marathon. So, I thought, for 3 miles, I should be able to handle 8:30 pace. On the treadmill at 1 elevation, that equates to 7.0.
Here is what I did (I think, it is a little blurry)
5 minute walk
7.0 for the first mile
7.1 for the second mile
7.2 for the first half of the last mile, decreasing by .1 at 2.5 miles
7.1 at 2.5
7.0 at 2.6
6.9 at 2.7
6.8 at 2.9
6.7 until 3 miles
and I was dead. This was so hard for me. I did eat my lunch just before hand at a meeting, and I felt ever bite of that sandwich, but BOY was this a hard run. I think, also, because I've found a treadmill at work, which is AWESOME, but there are absolutely no distractions with that treadmill, so I'm pretty bored. I think it might be time to pursue a really good podcast or even a book while I'm doing my treadmill running.
